Pink Floyd
A superb 1967 set of Pink Floyd signatures, contained in an autograph album, across two facing pages. The first page features an inscription to Vicki in Nick Mason’s hand, ‘with love from the Pink Floyd [written in large bubble letters] who all stayed happily at The Priory’. He adds a drawing of a plant with leaves around the edges of the page. The next page is signed by the four members: Roger Waters (‘Rog xx’), Nick Mason (‘Nick xxxxx’ — also continuing a drawing of a plant from the previous page), Rick Wright (‘Rick x’) and Syd Barrett (‘From the Pink Floyd, love Syd Barrett x’). Together with a letter of provenance from the recipient, explaining that she met the band when they stayed at The Priory in Monmouthshire on 25th May 1967.
Extremely rare in this early format. May 1967 was a breakthrough moment in the band’s history. On May 12th 1967, the band had performed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, a landmark event featuring the first-ever live quadraphonic sound system. Interesting to see two bandmembers referring to ‘The Pink Floyd’ here. This was the band’s official name throughout early 1967, although by mid-1967 they were increasingly appearing simply as ‘Pink Floyd’.
