Lennon, John (1940 – 1980)
A superb original ink drawing by John Lennon.
Sketched circa 1964, Lennon has drawn a long detailed line of characters, including a naked woman (presumably Cynthia Lennon), a kangaroo, several sheep, a bespectacled man, and several other little people and animals.
Adhesion marks to the reverse to two corners (lightly showing through to the front), otherwise in very fine condition.
Originally sold by Christie’s on 29th August 1991 from the collection of Tom Maschler (Lennon’s publisher at Jonathan Cape), so this sketch was likely intended for publication either in In His Own Write or A Spaniard in the Works.
Would make a fabulous display item!
