Hopper, Edward (1882 – 1967)

A good one-page autograph letter signed by Edward Hopper, September 5th 1950. The artist writes in bold fountain pen ink to ‘Kroll’ (likely the American painter Leon Kroll.

In full, ‘The only one I can think of at the present time worth of a grant from the Institute of  Arts and Letters is a sculptress — LOU DOUBLE — of 20 or 22 Washington Square North, New York. The address should be checked on, as I am not quite sure. If I think of someone else in the near future I shall send in their names. When does the committee meet? Best regards to you. Sincerely, Edward Hopper.’

In fine condition. Letters of Hopper are quite rare.
