An astonishing two-page handwritten letter by Billie Holiday, circa 1950s.

Holiday, Billie (1915 – 1959)

An astonishing two-page handwritten letter by Billie Holiday, circa 1950s. Written to her long-time lover Louis McKay in bold pencil on two separate sheets of hotel-headed stationery and signed with her nick-name, “Lady”. In part (minus numerous spelling errors), “Let’s face it, you’re not my husband, not even my boyfriend… just anything comes before me so I am not important to you in any way. You have even made cracks about whores, dirty bitches that meant more to you than me… Louie, how much can I take. You’re in New York two days and I, your wife, see you five minutes so just let’s be friends and forget it.” In fine condition. An incredible item.
