Eisenstein, Sergei (1898 – 1948)

An extremely rare vintage signed and inscribed sepia 6.5″ x 9″ photograph of Eisenstein in a head and shoulders pose. Signed in dark fountain pen ink to a largely clear area at the base of the image, ‘Avec respect profonde pour l’effort serieux de ”Photo Cine”, S. Eisenstein’ and dated Paris, November 1929 in his hand.

Some surface creasing to the edges and with a small area of paper loss to the upper right corner. Photo Cine was published between 1927 and 1929 and was a magazine intended for a cinema loving and cultured public, aiming to promote works of quality, to defend avant-garde cinema and to have cinema accepted as an art in its own right.
