Wagner-Jauregg, Julius (1857 – 1940)

An autograph statement signed by Wagner-Jauregg, an Austrian physician who won the 1927 Nobel Prize in Medicine for his work in the treatment of mental illness (by inducing fever). His main publication was a book titled Verhütung und Behandlung der progressiven Paralyse durch Impfmalaria (Prevention and treatment of progressive paralysis by malaria inoculation) in the Memorial Volume of the Handbuch der experimentellen Therapie (1931).

Wagner-Jauregg signs his name on a 7.5″ X 8.5″ sheet, adding the date, Vienna 14th January 1937, then writes, ‘After a discussion about my most successful achievement: the treatment of progressive paralysis caused by the malaria vaccine’.

Light age-toning, otherwise in fine condition.
