Tippett, Michael (1905 – 1998)

A two page autograph letter signed (one page, both sides) by Michael  Tippett (‘Michael’), no date, but circa 1960s. The composer writes to Gerald [Abraham, the musicologist], opening, ‘Hope this serves. I’m afraid it isn’t quite so clear in argument as I’d like it to be (the point raised about “Edgden Heath” gets only answered by implication) but it’s alive.’ He goes on, ‘If I am not to see a proof (a bit dangerous) can the M.S. Exercise Book come back to me nonetheless? Or just tear out the pages you want before sending to printer. Let me know at once if there is anything sufficiently adverse from your point of view that I must remedy. Yours, Michael’.

In fine condition.
