Rutherford, Ernest (1871 – 1937)

A rare autograph letter signed by Ernest Rutherford, June 30th [1912]. The scientist writes to a Mr. Platt, Secretary of the Chemical Society at Manchester University. In full, ‘Dear Sir, I shall be very pleased to take the chair at the proposed meeting on Friday in the school of Technology. I am sure the members of the Physical Colloquium will be much interested in the papers to be presented. Yours faithfully, E.  Rutherford’. Together with the original envelope, addressed in another hand.
