Magritte, René (1898 – 1967)
An excellent circa 1965 original untitled pencil drawing by René Magritte, 8.5″ X 11″.
The image shows people posing in, and walking through a forest, the gaps between the trees interrupting their bodies, in some cases with tranches of blank space. Signed lower right, “Magritte”.
Apparently a working for his painting The Blank Cheque, which was painted in 1965, and features a woman riding a horse through a forest, the gaps between the trees cutting similarly through the figures, with foliage, causing a deliberate confusion of perspective.
In fine condition.
Accompanied by a certificate by the Comité Magritte, testifying to its authenticity, and a photograph of the drawing, signed to the reverse by the previous owner, S. Oschinsky, who notes that the drawing was given to him by his friend, René Magritte.
