Maclean, Donald (1913 – 1983)

A copy of Contemporaries, a Cambridge University publication, 92 pages, featuring poems and short prose by students. The spy Donald Maclean’s name appears on the front cover, and he has signed his name in fountain pen ink beneath a short piece of his prose titled Puppet on page 60.

Front cover detached, with toning and age-spotting throughout, else fine. A rare autograph signed during Maclean’s undergraduate degree in  Cambridge. It was during his final year at the university, in 1934, that he became a spy for the Soviet Union.
