Hughes, Howard (1905 – 1976)

An exceptional vintage matte-finish 9″ x 7.25″ photo of Hughes talking to a man from the cockpit of a Northrop airplane, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, ‘To Billy Duane, with best wishes, Howard Hughes, ’37’.

In fine condition, with trimmed borders. On January 19th 1937, Hughes broke his own transcontinental speed record when he flew from Los Angeles, California, to Newark, New Jersey in 7 hours and 31 minutes at an estimated average speed of 332 miles per hour. Photographs signed by Hughes and picturing him as a pilot are quite scarce.
