Grainger, Percy (1882 – 1961)

An attractive early signed approximately 10″ X 7″ portrait (image size 3.5″ X 5.5″) by Percy Grainger. Boldly signed by the composer in fountain in ink beneath his photograph, and additionally inscribed above to Henry Horwood, ‘In happy memory of Green Bushes‘. He adds the date, 19th October 1912.

Slight silvering to the edges of the photograph and some age-toning, otherwise in fine condition.

Green Bushes is an English folk song which inspired Grainger’s 1906 work Passacaglia on an English Folksong Green Bushes.
