Description
Dubuffet, Jean (1901 – 1985)
A one page typed letter signed by Jean Dubuffet, 12th May 1983.
The artist writes to a group of four people ‘with the pretty first names of Sava, Malba, Jonka and Mira’. He notes that it is a great idea that they found a Dubuffet club in Belgrade. ‘I applaud it warmly’. He then offers to send some appropriate books relating to his work: ‘There are a lot of them and they are very heavy, so they won’t fly out of the window of the club study if it’s windy.’ He goes on to compliment his correspondents on the artwork they have sent him. ‘All four of you have done inventive pictures, and they evidence your affection for my own work. I thank you for your collective present which I accept as a great honour, and I will keep them with pride.’
Letters folds, otherwise in very fine condition.
