The original lease for Winston Churchill’s wartime residence in Morpeth Mansions, London.
Dated 14th September 1937, Churchill agrees to pay £420 per year for a five year period. Signed boldly to the final page by Churchill, “Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill” and additionally signed by his secretary, Violet Pearman. ArrayIn very fine condition.
Churchill lived at this address between 1930 and 1939, and it was an address that hosted some dramatic occasions. It was here, on September 29th 1939, that MPs gathered to discuss Chamberlain’s failure to issue an ultimatum to Neville Chamberlain.
