A marvellous approximately 7″ X 4″ autograph album filled with 105 autograph musical quotations by composers and musicians, circa 1880s. An excellent example is included of Alexander Borodin, signed twice, and featuring an extremely rare musical quotation from his first major work, his First Symphony. Edvard Grieg writes out a quotation from his Ballade Opus 24. Ruggero Leoncavallo offers a quotation from La bohème. Additional quotations appear from Vincent D’Indy, Anton Rubinstein, Ignacy Padarewski, Pietro Mascagni, Arthur Nikisch, Carl Reinecke, Max Reger, Eugen d’Albert, Alexander Glazunov, Léo Delibes, Camille Saint-Saens and many, many others.

A few pages loose, otherwise in very fine condition. An extraordinary collection peppered with many fine examples. We can find no other example of an autograph musical quotation by Borodin.
