Description
Barber, Samuel (1910 – 1981)
Barber writes out a detailed quotation from his most famous work, Adagio for Strings
An extremely rare and desirable four-bar autograph musical quotation by Samuel Barber. The composer writes out the opening of Adagio for Strings across two staves. Boldly signed in dark ink and dated March 1961. Barber adds a dedication, ‘to the young composer’. In very fine condition.
Barber’s Adagio for Strings is one of the most instantly recognisable pieces of Twentieth Century classical music, notably used in the films The Elephant Man and Platoon.
